VAM Paste Grade in Action!

Raised Face (RF) Flange Face Forming with VAM Paste Grade System

Overview

As part of WCS’s technical capability development and product application program, a Raised Face (RF) flange with worn sealing surfaces was restored at our workshop using the VAM Paste Grade System. This application demonstrates how damaged RF flange faces can be accurately rebuilt and reformed using cold-applied composite materials, without the need for machining, welding, or component replacement.

The workshop-based application serves as a practical reference for engineers and maintenance teams seeking a cost-effective and reliable solution for RF flange face restoration.

BEFORE APPLICATION

The RF flange showed surface wear and loss of flatness on the raised face, affecting proper gasket seating and sealing performance.

DURING APPLICATION

The VAM Paste Grade System was applied to rebuild the raised face. A flange former was installed to accurately shape the flange face and restore the original geometry.

AFTER APPLICATION

After curing and removal of the former, the RF flange face was successfully restored to a condition comparable to its original profile, ready for effective sealing.

Key Benefits of the VAM Paste Grade System

  • Eliminates the need for costly RF flange replacement or re-machining

  • Cold-applied repair method with no welding or hot work

  • Enables accurate raised face forming using formers

  • High mechanical strength and excellent adhesion to metal substrates

  • Suitable for workshop and planned maintenance applications

  • Solvent-free formulation for improved safety and environmental compliance

  • Supports extended service life of existing RF flanges
